“Juliette Barthe and Léonard Berthou each explore their own medium, painting for the former, photography for the latter, while questioning the material and perceptual limits of the image. Their works play with optical effects that oscillate between emergence and disappearance, deliberately disrupting visual stability. Both artists challenge the act of perception and engage the viewer’s body within the exhibition space, emphasizing the spatial dimension of their practices.

Their research unfolds within a context of increasing digitalization, in which attention has become fragmented. They investigate the frictions between the digital and the analogue, between machine and human, drawing on a wide range of techniques such as analogue photography and printmaking processes, while allowing room for the unexpected.

Presented together within the same space, their works establish a formal and sensory dialogue between two complementary approaches to the image, both in its physicality and in the way it is experienced. Through multiple modes of seeing, they question our visual habits by engaging the body within space.”
